You’ll love these soup recipes and want to keep making them again and again! The recipes in this fall soup recipe collection are:

  • warm and nourishing.
  • full of in-season fall vegetables.
  • easy to customize and make dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian (see each individual recipe for details).
  • versatile. We’ve got slow cooker soups, Instant Pot soups, Dutch oven soups, and traditional stovetop soups.
  • freezer-friendly. Most of the soups in this recipe collection can be frozen, making them perfect for meal prep!

🥗 What to serve with these soups

Another great thing to love about soup is that it can be served as either a main course or as a side dish.

If enjoying these soup recipes as side dishes, consider serving them with equally satisfying main courses. Fall favorites like our dairy-free mac and cheese, Instant Pot sirloin tip roast, and rigatoni alla vodka all go well with sides of soup.

If you’re serving soup as a main course, serve it with a couple of lighter sides. An arugula pear salad or broccoli crunch salad would be delicious with a side of soup.

And of course, you’ve gotta have some crusty bread to soak up all that delicious soup! Enjoy soup with a side of air fryer garlic bread, pesto bread, or garlic parmesan knots.

🍷 Wine pairing for soup

In pairing wines with soup, here are a few general guidelines.

  • The lighter the soup, the lighter the wine. Pair a light chicken noodle soup with a Sauvignon Blanc white wine.
  • A richer soup that is not tomato based, like a pumpkin sausage soup, would pair well with a crisp unoaked Chardonnay.
  • If the soup has richer flavors or has darker meat, pair it with a red wine with bigger tannins. A rich, hearty beef stew would pair deliciously with a rich, bold Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Asian flavors, like those found in wonton soup or homemade ramen, pair well with a dry or slightly off-dry Riesling.
  • What grows together, goes together. So if you’re enjoying an Italian wedding soup or a lasagna soup, pair it with an Italian red wine like a Barolo or Chianti.

Soups are the ultimate #fall food. Best way to make soups (in my opinion) is in the crockpot! Let it go low and slow all day and have a hot and ready meal by dinner time!

Crock pots are the best for soup! Gives all of the flavors plenty of time to soak in!
