Restaurant vibe
Rosmarino Osteria is a busy Italian restaurant in Newberg, Oregon.
Walking in, you're immediately greeted by the host stand right in front of the main bar. Seating in the main dining room consist of cozy two-top and four-top tables, with larger tables around the back.
With brick walls, candelabra chandeliers, and white linen covered tables, the vibe is a welcoming, comfortable mix of casual Oregon and food-centric Italy. Laughter and friendly conversations vibrate in the air, creating a jovial, familial setting.
Northern Italian cuisine
The friendly atmosphere is infectious, but it's the cuisine that receives consistent rave reviews. Here, Chef/Owner Dario shares authentic Northern Italian dishes. Many of the recipes come from his Nonna Agnese’s private cookbook.
Thursday through Saturday, you can enjoy lunch or dinner from their A La Carte menu. Here's a look at what Alain and I enjoyed during a recent Saturday lunch at Rosmarino Osteria.
Patate & Gamberi ($13)
A hearty starter dish that is just the right amount if split between two people. This is steamed & chilled potatoes tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper, parsley, topped with roasted and chilled prawns and crispy speck.
Risotto ($20)
This is risotto the way it is meant to be enjoyed. Authentic Italian risotto finished with butter & Grana Padano cheese. This dish is made from scratch the way Nonna makes it, so it takes about 20 minutes.
Pappardelle al Cinghiale ($20)
I'm subtly eating my way through alllll the wild boar pappardelle dishes in the Portland metro area, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to order this dish at Rosmarino.
Homemade pappardelle pasta is tossed with Nonna's famous slow-braised wild boar and topped with - of course - Grana Padano cheese.

It's Oregon wine country, so dress as casual or as formal as you want. You'll be surrounded by diners in everything from jeans and flannel shirts to high heels and dresses.

Because this is a very busy and sought-after restaurant that has limited opening hours, we recommend making reservations online in advance.
Dine at Rosmarino Osteria
When we lived in Boston, one of our favorite weekend stops was to the North End, where we gorged on authentic Italian food. Rosmarino Osteria doesn't take us quite back to Italy, but it does take us back to the North End. It's a restaurant with a lot of heart, a welcoming atmosphere, and authentic Italian food in a sweet Pacific Northwest wine country setting.
If you're visiting wine country anywhere in the Willamette Valley, we highly recommend making reservations at Rosmarino Osteria.
