Watermelon - If you're reading this between May and September, you're in peak watermelon season! Make sure you get seedless watermelon, then cut it into small cubes. If you happen to get a watermelon with seeds, you'll want to strain those seeds out after blending the ingredients.

Champagne - Mimosas are traditionally made with Champagne or sparkling wine. You can use whatever sparkling wine you have on hand.

    👩🏻‍🍳 Recipe FAQs

two glasses of watermelon mimosas with bottle of sparkling wine and watermelon slices in the background.
What are good garnishes for a watermelon mimosa?

Mint leaves, twisted orange rind, and small cut of watermelon with the rind all make beautiful garnishes that add complementary aromas and flavors to the cocktail.

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can make the drink base (blended watermelon, lime juice, sugar) ahead of time, and then refrigerate and add the Champagne just before serving.

Any cocktail with Champagne is best served immediately after it is made. That way, you can enjoy the bubbles and fiz of the Champagne (or sparkling wine) with the freshness of the fruit. If you make this ahead of time, the Champagne will likely lose its signature fresh bubbles.

🍽 What to serve with watermelon mimosas

These watermelon cocktails are delicious at any summer BBQ or picnic.

For BBQs, serve them with Filipino Pork BBQ, Summer Berry & Ricotta Crostini, Filipino Macaroni Salad, and Tropical Mango Pineapple Sorbet for dessert.
