Looking to go wine tasting in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley wine country this summer? Here's a list of some of my favorite Oregon wineries that are open for business, with tasting room guidelines, hours, reservation info, and more.
Remember wine tasting? When we'd meet up with friends and taste through a flight of wines with some cheese and charcuterie?
It feels like it's been so long since we've done this, but Oregon wineries are slowly opening back up for visitors - just in time for nicer summer weather in the Willamette Valley!
Willamette Valley Wineries that are open for business
We all know that the last few months have been anything but normal.
Normally, I go wine tasting about once a week - either at a Portland-area restaurant or wine bar or at a winery near me. Since March 13, 2020, I've been hunkered down at home with my family, like most of you. Thank goodness for wine deliveries from Hazelfern Cellars, Bells Up Winery, and Wine.com, and curbside pick-ups from Sokol Blosser Winery and Ponzi Vineyards. And for Zoom happy hours!
But now wineries are slowly starting to open up their tasting rooms again. I picked up a club shipment + a wine order at Sokol Blosser winery the other day and was happy to see the safety measures put in place. Not only are Willamette Valley wineries keeping customer safety top of mind, but I noticed all of the guests wore masks too.
I know you are all itching to get back out there. And, I know Oregon wineries are excited to have you back.
Here's a Summer 2020 Wine Tasting Guide to some of the Willamette Valley wineries that are open to visitors.
Please note that reservations are required at most places, and each winery has its own guidelines that you must adhere to. For most tasting rooms that are open during Phase 1:
- They must ensure that there is at least 6 feet between parties.
- Wineries clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces between guest visits.
- Most wineries will have hand sanitizer available for guests to use.
- Winery staff will wear masks, and most wineries request or require guests wear masks when moving about the tasting room; most wineries do not require guests to wear masks while seated.
Please be respectful of each winery's individual guidelines, as outlined below and on their own websites. They are put in place to keep everyone safe and to ensure an enjoyable tasting experience!
Summer 2020 Wine Tasting Guide
Please note that this is updated whenever I receive new info from relevant wineries that I think you would enjoy visiting. I have either visited these tasting rooms and/or personally tried their wines. This is by no means a comprehensive list of all Oregon wineries in the Willamette Valley.
Be sure to check directly with the wineries before visiting for any updates.

They make several different wines that are all produced with meticulous care. They're known for their many styles of Riesling (which I love), and produce fabulous Oregon Pinot Noirs. But if you are wine tasting in Oregon, Brooks is a great place to try a' Dry Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, and Pinot Blanc.

David Hill Winery
What I love about David Hill Winery: the history. The farmhouse that is now the tasting room was built in 1883. Charles Coury planted the first grapes on this property in 1965, just before many of Oregon's pioneer winemakers arrived. If you're wine tasting in Oregon, I hope you venture out a bit from the Dundee/Newberg/Carlton area to Forest Grove and enjoy a tasting here. It's well worth a visit!

Domaine Divio
What I love about Domaine Divio: Winemaker Bruno Corneaux's jubilant passion for wine is infectious and shows in his wines. This is a nice stop if you're wine tasting in Oregon because it feels tucked into a secret nook of wine country, so it's quiet and serene. You can really focus on the wine and the scenery - versus it being too much of a scene - here.

What I love about Dobbes: logistically, it's a great winery to make as your first stop or your last stop when wine tasting in Oregon. It's located right at the edge of Dundee. But more than that, I love the people behind Dobbes - from Andy the winemaker, Gretchen the CEO, Joe Dobbes & his daughter Amelia Dobbes, who is the marketing of & sales coordinator, to everyone on their team - they're always friendly, always helpful, and 100% down to earth people. Plus, they make some of my favorite wines.

Knudsen Vineyards
What I love about Knudsen Vineyards: I've been a fan of the Knudsens since drinking my first Erath and Argyle wines, both of which were made from grapes grown by the Knudsen family. Although they've been bottling their own label for a while, now Knudsen Vineyard has their own tasting room in which you can enjoy their beautiful namesake wines. The Knudsen Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir taste like true Oregon wines. They are elegant, but not fussy; well structured, beautifully balanced, food-friendly wines.

ALL THE YES. I'll happily drink wine while 6 feet away from everyone else. Marlynn, this is such an excellent resource for those of us who are craving a little taste of normalcy. ;)
