🛒 Ingredient notes
You just need a few simple ingredients to make this festive treat:
- White Chocolate Chips - The base of the bark. Choose high-quality white chocolate (or white candy melts) for the best flavor and texture.
- Red Candy Melts and Blue Candy Melts - For the festive colors. Candy melts are the easiest, but you can also use food coloring mixed with white chocolate.
- Assorted Toppings - We love using a mix of red and blue M & M candies, white chocolate covered pretzels or yogurt covered pretzels, red and blue sprinkles, and mini marshmallows. But you can use crushed candy canes, freeze-dried strawberries, dried cranberries, freeze-dried blueberries, and other red, white, and blue candies. Get creative with what you have on hand!
- Optional Add-ins - Consider adding chopped nuts or even a drizzle of dark chocolate for extra flavor and texture.

👩🏻🍳 Recipe FAQs
Yes! While white chocolate is traditionally used for the base, you can also use milk or dark chocolate, or a combination of all three. Just keep in mind that the colors may not be as vibrant if you mix dark chocolate with red and blue candy melts or food coloring. You can also layer different types of chocolate for a fun twist.
Chocolate can seize (become grainy and stiff) if it comes into contact with even a small amount of water. To prevent this, make sure all your utensils and bowls are completely dry before you begin. When melting chocolate, use a microwave in short bursts or a double boiler, and stir frequently to ensure smooth, even melting.
Chocolate bark can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or in the refrigerator for up to a month. If you prefer a firmer texture, store it in the fridge. For longer storage, you can freeze the bark for up to three months. Just be sure to separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking, and let it come to room temperature before serving.

Pairing wine with chocolate might seem challenging, but it’s easier than you think. Here are two fantastic options that will complement the sweet and creamy flavors of your red, white, and blue chocolate bark.
Rosé: A dry or off-dry rosé with berry notes is another excellent choice. The hints of red fruit will enhance the flavors of any berry toppings, and the wine’s crisp acidity will cut through the richness of the chocolate, creating a well-balanced pairing.
Moscato d’Asti: This slightly sparkling Italian wine is a delightful match for white chocolate. Its light sweetness and fruity notes of peach, apricot, and citrus play beautifully with the creamy texture of the bark, while the bubbles add a refreshing contrast.
