Celebrating Halloween at home? Here are some easy ideas to ensure a fun holiday for the whole family!
Like many families around the world, we'll be celebrating a sweet, relaxing Halloween at home. The biggest benefit of this, in my opinion, is getting to keep ALL of the Halloween treats for ourselves! That and not getting soaked in the rain while the kids are trick-or-treating ;)
There are so many ways to make a Halloween celebration at home super fun. And you don't have to spend a lot of money or spend hours on end planning, cleaning, and cooking to make that Halloween magic happen!
Here are some of my top Halloween ideas to get you started. Below each simple solution is a "next level tip" if you want to up your Halloween game and fancy up your home celebration a bit!
Halloween Food
You could go ALL out with crazy creative Halloween food, but this year, I think it's important to remember that it's okay to keep things simple. Kids will still have the best time
I still plan on making my annual Monster Halloween Bark and our new ghoulishly adorable Nutter Butter Halloween Ghost Cookies. Both are incredibly easy peasy and take almost no time at all. So go ahead make one or two things that make you happy (and that do not stress you out!). For the rest? Go for quick, convenient solutions.
Deli catering trays aren't just for work lunches and school events. These are great for families, too! At my local Safeway, we can choose from hoagies, classic sandwiches, or even sliders. You can mix & match sandwiches to please everyone at home!
Next level tip: you can easily dress up these sliced sandwiches with toothpicks that are decorated with Halloween stickers or flags.
Guacamole or salsa and chips is always a fun snack. I like the Made In-Store Guacamole from Safeway's produce department (pictured above).
Next level tip: For Halloween, carve a face into a small pumpkin and fill it with guacamole to make it look gross and scary.
Save yourself some time and pick up some Halloween-themed cupcakes or cookies from the bakery department. My kids love the mix & match vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with Halloween sprinkles.
Next level tip: Dress up these cupcakes with even more Halloween sugar decorations (found in the baking aisle) or make your own Halloween cupcake flags, similar to the cupcake flags seen here, but in orange, black, and purple with Halloween sayings.
And of course, what's Halloween without Halloween candy? You could place the candy in a bowl and let everyone help themselves.
Next level tip: Create a scavenger hunt for the kids to find things around the house. For each item they find, they can exchange it for a piece of candy!
One-Stop Shopping
To make this holiday easy and stress-free, find everything you need at one store. I shopped for everything you see here at my local Safeway. But you can also find quality grab ‘n go deli, produce, candy and bakery offerings perfect for Halloween at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Albertsons, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Randalls, Shaw’s Supermarket, Star Market, Tom Thumb and Vons.
Safeway also offers Grocery Delivery and DriveUp & Go™ for convenient ways to shop! I love both options, depending on what I have planned for that day.
