Kitchen Tools and Equipment
To make this recipe, you just need a few basic kitchen tools:
And, as with all recipes, you'll want some measuring cups and measuring spoons.
Ingredients
This recipe is not only super EASY to make, it's also a 5-ingredients or less recipe!
To make pizza cups, you'll need:
Homemade pizza dough or one (13.8 ounce) tube of prepared pizza crust - While I love our homemade pizza dough recipe, I usually use store-bought pizza crust that comes in a tube for pizza cups.
Pizza sauce - you could use your own homemade pizza sauce or your favorite store-bought pizza sauce.
Pepperoni - I prefer to cut the pepperoni into quarters, but you could also cut them into half or just leave them whole.
How to make pizza cups
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray the muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Unroll the pizza dough. Using a knife or pizza cutter, roll out and cut the dough into 12 squares. Place 1 square in each muffin cup, then use your fingers to gently press the dough to fit into the bottom.
Add the pizza filling. Spoon a heaping spoonful of pizza sauce into each pizza cup. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoonful of the mozzarella on top of the sauce. Cut the pepperoni slices in half, then add 2 or 3 pieces to each cup.
Bake the pizza cups. Place the muffin pan in the oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the top crust is golden brown and the filling is hot. Allow to cool slightly in the pan before tipping the cups out of the pan and serving.
Pizza Cup Topping Options
Ready to go beyond cheese and pepperoni? Here are some ideas to inspire your tastebuds!
TEX-MEX PIZZA CUPS: use a Mexican-style cheese blend instead of mozzarella, leave out the pepperoni, and add chopped jalapeños, black olives, and minced fresh cilantro. Serve with sour cream and salsa.
BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA CUPS: use BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce, chopped rotisserie chicken, finely diced red onion, chopped parsley.
PESTO SHRIMP PIZZA CUPS: use pesto instead of red pizza sauce, diced shrimp, minced fresh garlic.
HAWAIIAN PIZZA CUPS: use diced pineapples and chopped ham.
FANCY FALL PIZZA CUPS: use chopped figs, brie cheese, and chopped green apples.
What to serve with pizza cups

Recipe FAQs
I haven't tried this substitution so I cannot say for sure that the cook times and ratios will stay the same. However, they are similar in terms of ingredients, so if you do try it, please let me know how it goes!
I usually make a couple of pizza cups dairy-free for myself, and it's fairly easy. Simply substitute the mozzarella cheese with your favorite dairy-free mozzarella shreds alternative.
Absolutely! Simply double the ingredients and use a second muffin pan to make 24 total pizza cups. If they will fit in your oven side-by-side, bake them that way for more even baking. If they do not, be sure to rotate the pans halfway through the baking time to help each muffin pan of pizza cups bake evenly.
