Need a break this busy holiday season? Enjoy a delicious, easy-to-make bourbon lemon cocktail recipe – the Citrus Bourbon Buzz – with good friends for a fun Girls Night In! #MixedWithTrop

It’s the busiest time of year for me and my family. For you, too?
I love entertaining, and we throw a few different large celebrations at our house throughout the holiday season. However, it’s during these crazy go-go-go times when I find that I need to take breaks from the large crowds and spend quality downtime with just a few close friends. While I try to have a Girls Night Out at least once a month, during this busy time of year, I find it so much fun to, instead, have a Girls Night In. And this Bourbon Lemon Cocktail is the perfect drink for it.
Girls Night In

The best part about having a Girls Night In: less stress! And, if you follow my blog regularly, you know that is one of my entertaining mottos. Having people over should be FUN and about the time you spend together; not about creating party perfection.
The Food

I love putting together simple platters of cheese and crackers, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, and smoked salmon or salami slices. Something sweet of course has to be on the menu, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Try my Easy Lemon Crinkle Cookies, Cinnamon Spritz Cookies, or Soft Ginger Molasses Cookies.
Bourbon Lemon Cocktail

As for the drinks, I like to serve some wine (see my Wine Bliss archives for some great Girls Night In wine picks!). I also like to offer one simple, signature cocktail.
I'm a bourbon girl, so I lean toward serving a bourbon cocktail recipe often. I love Old Fashioneds and Bourbon Renewals, but for a Girls Night In, I like to add a fun citrus twist. I give you: the Citrus Bourbon Buzz.

This bourbon cocktail recipe is so light and refreshing, and only has three ingredients (other than ice)! I use Tropicana Tangerine Lemonade, bourbon, and bitters. Three ingredients to make a light, summer-like cocktail to sip and enjoy while we talk about the ways in which we’ll change the world.
At least, that’s what my friends and I talk about at our Girls Night Ins. The conversations can get deep and heavy, and this bourbon cocktail recipe is the perfect evening sipper to help lighten the room.

A word about my choice of Tropicana Premium Drinks. I have these on hand for cocktails because they make it SO easy to create delicious at-home mixology creations that are perfect for social gatherings. Even though they are great on their own, they are even tastier when used as a cocktail mixer! Tropicana has two flavors that I find work really well in a variety of cocktails: Watermelon and Tangerine Lemonade. They have no artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors, making them excellent cocktail mixers for those of us who do not like saccharine sweet cocktails.

One of the best reasons to meet girlfriends at your homes is you can totally stay as long as you want without feeling bad about taking up their tables and you get definitely more for your money if everyone brings stuff instead! Plus kicking off your heels and laughing loudly and freely!

Girls night in is a great idea. I keep thinking that as well to do more dinner parties and "happy hours" at someone's house instead of always going out. Good suggestions, Marlynn!

What perfect timing! My girls and I are planning a weekend away next month! We're bringing plenty of wine, but a signature cocktail would be a great addition, as well!
