Pineapples are one of nature’s tastiest snacks. Sweet and tropical, they make fruit salads sing and add some pizazz to pasta salads.

One of the BEST ways to enjoy fresh pineapple is this recipe for Air Fryer Pineapple.

🌟 Why air fry pineapple?

slices of pineapple

Air frying pineapple brings out the rich flavors of pineapple. Whereas fresh pineapple has a light, one-note delicious flavor, cooked pineapple contains layers of flavor that are even more delicious!

I love air frying because you don’t have to babysit the food in a pan over the stove. It’s so fast, too.

🍍 3 ingredient recipe

ingredients to make air fryer pineapple

Gotta love recipes that are fast, easy, AND only require 3 ingredients!

Pineapple – Use fresh pineapple and be sure to peel, core, and slice the pineapple. If you’re in a pinch, you can use canned slices of pineapple, but the taste is definitely not the same as fresh.

Brown sugar – I prefer light brown sugar but you can use dark brown sugar if that’s what you have.

Cinnamon – Mixed with the light brown sugar, ground cinnamon goes so well with the sweetness of the pineapple!

✅ Easy step-by-step instructions

Making air fryer pineapple is SO easy!

In a small bowl, whisk together the light brown sugar and the ground cinnamon.

Sprinkle and then rub in the cinnamon sugar mixture on both sides of all of the pineapple slices.

Place the pineapple slices into your air fryer basket or trays in a single layer. It’s okay if the sides overlap a bit, but not too much. You may need to work in batches, and/or use a rack to accommodate more pineapple in each batch.

Air fry at 375°F for 7 minutes on each side, flipping with tongs halfway through.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Is it ok to use canned pineapple?

Yes! Fresh pineapple that is newly peeled, cored, and sliced will have the best flavor. But if all you have is canned pineapple slices, you can definitely use them here.

Can I use any other type of sweetener?

Absolutely. Instead of light brown sugar, feel free to use granulated sugar or dark brown sugar. Just be aware that the final taste and caramelization will be different if you use either substitution.

What’s the best way to store leftover pineapple?

Store leftover pineapple slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

🍽 How to serve air fryer pineapple

Air fried pineapple is a delicious snack or dessert on its own. But try serving it one of these ways for an enhanced dessert experience:

🥘 Kitchen tools and equipment

pineapple slices cooked in the air fryer

To make pineapple in the air fryer, you just need a few basic kitchen tools:

You can use any standard size air fryer to make this recipe. I use my Ninja Foodi 10-quart Dual Zone Air Fryer, which I LOVE because it’s so easy to clean and air fries quickly. But you can use any 6-quart or 8-quart basket-style air fryer or tray-style air fryer.

Tongs – Use a sturdy set of tongs to place the pineapple slices into the air fryer, and also to flip the slices over halfway through cooking.

Mixing bowl – You’ll need a mixing bowl and a whisk to make the cinnamon sugar.

🥂 Best wine pairings for pineapple

Depending on how you decide to serve these sweet slices of pineapple, they generally pair well with an equally sweet Sauterne. Or, try an off-dry Riesling.

Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and the cinnamon.
  • Coat the pineapple slices with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Working in batches so that you air fry the slices in single layers (they can overlap slightly, but do not stack them), air fry at 375°F for 7 minutes, flip the pineapple slices over, then air fry for another 7 minutes.

Notes

Air frying tip: it’s best to air fry slices in single layers. The edges can overlap a bit, but make sure not too much is overlapping, to ensure each side gets cooked evenly. Because of this, you will likely need to work in batches. Or, you can also cut the slices in half to make more fit into one batch in your air fryer basket or tray.
