Looking for some of the best Park City summer activities? Then head on up to Park City Mountain. This beautiful, world class ski resort has a lot to offer families during the summer "off season."
Do you ski? Then you will LOVE visiting Park City, Utah! Don't ski? You will love it, too!
While Park City is well known for its amazing ski season, I've learned it's also an incredible summer, fall, and spring destination for families looking for outdoor adventures. Recently, my son and I spent a long weekend in Park City, and I am thrilled to share with you our Park City summer activities experiences! You can read more about our stay at The Chateaux, and today I am sharing our morning at Park City Mountain.
Park City Mountain summer activities
After the Canyons Resort and Park City Mountain Resort merged last year, Park City Mountain is now the largest ski resort in the United States, with more than 7,300 acres of 300+ trails.
I've only been here twice now, and both times have been during the summer, so I hope to someday see it snow-covered in the winter, as well. But I can attest that during the summer, when that hot summer sun is shining, the mountain glows; I was in outdoor lover's heaven, surrounded by gorgeous towering Aspen trees and evergreens, and looking down on the beautiful hills and valleys. Park City is a masterful chameleon of nature's beauty during the change of seasons.
My son and I began our visit to Park City Mountain with, what else? A delicious meal, of course
Lodge Bar & Grill
We enjoyed a delicious lunch courtesy of Park City Mountain at their Lodge Bar & Grill, located at the base of the mountain right next to the adventure park. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable - just what you would expect from a ski lodge.
We started with the ahi tuna nachos, which were a feast for the eyes, as well as the tastebuds. I definitely recommend ordering these when you visit!
For my entree, I enjoyed the chicken curry sandwich, while my son ordered the kids' burger sliders.
Meanwhile, the lovely Park City Mountain representative who dined with us enjoyed this beautiful salmon salad.
The Lodge Bar & Grill is kid-friendly and people come here right from the mountain, so casual/activewear clothing is perfectly fine here.
Summer-spring adventures
When there's no snow on the mountain, Park City Mountain still has SO many summer/fall/spring activities available for families with kids of all ages to enjoy. If you come during the summer, your kids can take part in the super fun Summer Adventure Camp.
Step into the Kids' Adventure Zone for a super cool Spider Slide, scale large boulders, or try the climbing wall.
You can also check out Park City Mountain's cool zipline adventures, which I will have to go back for another time because it looked like SO much fun but we just didn't have the time to do during this visit. If you go here and do the ziplines, I'd love to hear how it went and how it compared to other mountain ziplines (feel free to leave a comment below!).
Just off to the side of the Kids' Adventure Zone, the whole family can play a round of mini golf for just $9 or $10 per person, per round, depending on the season (note: be sure to check the website for availability).
Park City Mountain also has four lanes of Alpine Slides with more than 3,000 feet of fun.
Alpine Coaster
While we love alpine slides, the activity that I was most excited about - and that my son was most nervous about - was the Alpine Coaster. This is like a roller coaster, but it winds you down the mountain.
You can ride solo or, depending on your child's height, you can ride with your child. My son is tall enough to ride alone, but we both decided it would be best, and more fun, to experience the Alpine Coaster for the first time together. So after waiting about 15 minutes in line (there can be longer lines on busier days), we listened to the safety instructions from the staff, and began our way up, up, up the mountain.
For what seems like 20 minutes but is probably really just 5-10 minutes, you begin by sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the view as the coaster takes your slide vehicle up the mountain tracks. Just like a roller coaster, you are wearing a seat belt securely buckled in, and the front passenger has a guardrail that he/she can hold onto. Meanwhile, the backseat passenger is the one who manages the speed controls and the brakes on the side.
Once you get to the top, your vehicle begins coasting down the tracks and you wind down the mountain in loop-de-loop fashion at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
I won't lie: some corners were downright frightful! The first corner, we both said we felt as if the slide was going to jump off the track! But of course, it didn't, and we breezed down the rest of the Alpine Coaster safely.
The Alpine Coaster is a MUST for people who love roller coasters. What a rush! And you absolutely cannot beat the views. I haven't been on many roller coasters but I can say without a doubt: this coaster has the BEST views
Other Park City summer activities
From Park City Mountain, you can also enjoy the leisurely Scenic Gondola Rides up and down the mountain; go mountain biking or hiking; go horseback riding; or enjoy a full round of golf on the Canyons golf course.
I was really impressed with the many different activities Park City Mountain has to offer outside of its busy ski season. The staff is so helpful, and I really felt like they take the safety of their guests very seriously. Plus: they are determined to make sure you have a fantastic, FUN time while you are on the mountain, no matter what the season.

Fabulous guide... we absolutely LOVED Park City during the summer. I couldn't believe how the mountain transformed, how green the grass was and that blue sky was just so refreshing!!! My boys couldn't get enough of that alpine coaster and we also really enjoyed hiking. It's been years since we visited so we are due to go back. Pinning this for when we do. Great Job!!!

I love Park City. It really is a great destination all year-round. Last time I visited I'm not sure the Alpine Coster (or if it was, I didn't know about it), but that looks like so much! Definitely doing it next time.
