Urban Bliss Life ยป Restaurant Reviews ยป Oregon Restaurant Reviews ยป B & T Oyster Bar Late Night Happy Hour [CLOSED]

B & T Oyster Bar Late Night Happy Hour [CLOSED]

[UPDATE: B & T Oyster Bar is now closed]

It's dark so early now, isn't it? These chilly, wind-whipped, rain-soaked winter days can really get you down and make holiday errand-running somewhat of a challenge.

If you're out and about, be sure to tuck into Block & Tackle Oyster Bar (B & T Oyster Bar), a cozy spot on SE Division that's nestled among some of Portland's trendiest new restaurants, cafes, and local boutiques.

B & T Oyster Bar is long, narrow, low-light restaurant that transports you to the coast, with its fishnet globe lighting, oceanic-themed chalkboard drawing and quotes. It's the kind of place you go with good friends after a long work day to unwind, sit back, and just relax.

Recently, I was invited to check out their new late night happy hour menu, which is a FABULOUS deal and I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. Chef de Cuisine Robert Lucas was on hand to help us shuck oysters, which was a fun challenge, but don't worry, they'll be pre-shucked for you when you visit! :)

Here's a look at what you can find on the late night happy hour.

Raw Oysters on the Half Shell - $2 each

    Oyster shooters: $1.50 each

    Crab Hand Roll $6

This was a crowd favorite on the evening I visited. The crab rolls are delicate yet filling, and contain King and red crab, glass noodles, nuoc cham mayonnaise, yuzu tobiko, wrapped in soy paper.

    Tempura rock shrimp

My favorite dish on the late night happy hour is the tempura rock shrimp, which comes with two different dressings: spicy mayo and wasabi mayo, and a side of white soy ponzu, daikon and herb salad. I'm a spice wimp, and I didn't find these to be too spicy. They were fried and dressed up just right, in my opinion. So delicious!

Fish Sandwich (late night HH only) $11

This is a hefty, delectable, two-handed fish sandwich. It's beer battered mahi mahi filet (note: the exact fish may change), old bay mayo, house pickle relish, shaved red onion, iceburg.

You can also get a Squid Salad for $8 on the late night happy hour menu.

I did want to share a photo of B & T Oyster Bar's Beet Salad ($10) which is on their regular menu. I'm normally not a fan of beets but they're definitely having their moment in restaurants right now, and B & T does a great job with this one.

This inventive salad features heirloom beets, wasabi ranch, belgian endive, arugula, green apple, pumpkin seeds

    Happy hour drinks

And since this is happy hour, there are, of course, drink specials.

$6 Oyster pairing wine glass (5-7pm only)
$2 off Specialty Cocktails (5-7pm only)
$6 High Ball Cocktails (late night only)
    $2 off well drinks
    $1 off Drafts

Bar Manager Christian Rouillier shared his recipe for Tanghetto Cocktails with us, and I'll be sharing that with YOU fine folks here on the blog in a future Mixology Monday Cocktail Bliss post!

I love oysters (and really all seafood) so this restaurant sounds right up my alley! They have some amazing happy hour deals. Sounds like a good time!

Seafood is definitely one of my major weaknesses too. Love all of it! And their prices are incredible for the amazing food they have to offer. Thanks, Allison!

I'm not much of a late night gal myself these days but I love the option, especially during the crazy holiday season when we're out and about town a lot more! Thanks, Erin!
