Family-owned and operated Woven Wineworks offers delightful Oregon wines at several pop-up series events and tastings throughout the summer.
Summer in Portland, Oregon is magical.
Every week and weekend is filled with food and beverage festivals, pop-up series events, cellar series events, concerts in the vineyards, movies in the vineyards... Oregon wine country blooms with opportunities to enjoy the serenity of Oregon summers, the beauty of Oregon vineyards, and the deliciousness and diversity of Oregon wines.
One fun winery-to-watch is Woven Wineworks, and there are plenty of opportunities coming up for you to try their wines!
Woven Wineworks & Covey Ridge Vineyards
Woven Wineworks/Covey Ridge Vineyards are co-owned and co-founded by Elaina Spring (pictured above) and her uncle Jim Allen. The family-owned and operated farm of Covey Ridge Vineyards is located on the northern edge of the Willamette Valley AVA, in Banks, Oregon.
In addition to producing wine under the Woven Wineworks label, Covey Ridge Vineyard has produced extraordinary wines in partnership with additional wineries, such as Ferraro Cellars, Owen Roe, R. Stuart & Co., McKinlay Vineyards, Dobbes Family Estate, Walnut City Wineworks, and more. Covey Ridge Vineyards currently is not open to the public, but you can contact them to arrange a private tour.
You can also enjoy these delightful wines at one of the Woven Wineworks tastings and pop-up events!
Woven wineworks pop-up summer series
I had the pleasure of attending a recent Woven Wineworks Pop-Up Summer Series event, and it was so much fun! It was wonderful meeting Elaina for the first time in person (we follow each other on Instagram - be sure to follow Woven Wineworks on Instagram too!) - her energy and passion for her wines is infectious!
Each pop-up series has a slightly different theme. The one pictured here was "TASTE" with a focus on the particular flavors of wines and food pairings that were expertly executed.
Here's a peek at the food and presentation from the event I attended. As you can see, they were also beautifully and artfully presented.
This salmon was SO amazingly fresh and delicious, topped with big beautiful artisan salt flakes.
Beautiful cheese and fruit board!
This pop-up was catered by Crave Family Farm, who is also providing farm-to-table snacks for the next pop-up event on Friday July 21st.
These pinot noir brownies were rich and flavorful!
I loved how there was a s'mores bar too in the outside area of Cellar 503, where you could make your own s'mores with the fire pit... which was fueled by old pinot noir vines and corks!
And of course, there is wine tasting throughout the evening at each pop-up event.
At the one I attended, we were able to taste our way through seven tastings. These included a Woven Wineworks 2014 Pinot Gris and 2012 Pinot Noir. The Pinot Gris was bright and crisp and the Pinot Noir was a lovely classic Oregon pinot.
My favorite taste of the night was the 2016 Sweet Celebration blend, a blend that Elaina made for her uncle's wedding. This is a delightful white summer sipper wine that is, indeed, slightly sweet but doesn't have a rich sugary aftertaste.
The event also included tastings of two wines from guest winemaker Kevin Green, Winemaker/Owner of La Randonnée Wines. He shared his newly released 2016 Oregon Sauvignon Blanc as well as their award winning 2015 and 2014 Pinot Noirs.

Everything looks amazing, and as always, you did an amazing job capturing the moment, Marlynn. The cork in the fire, so casually yet perfectly placed - I love it! (P.S. You intro would make a good oratory warm-up. Read out loud - there's quite a nice little tongue twister hidden in the middle of it all.)
Lindsay Ingalls says
I can finally take all your wine suggestions and try them! Adding this winery to my growing list!

I particularly love events like these that aim to TEACH you something. That way you leave not only with a full belly but with a bit more knowledge.
Marlynn Jayme Schotland says
Absolutely - love learning something new at food & wine events!
